An innovative initiative was started by the Veterinarian Maria Moualem by equipping a mobile veterinary clinic that provides pet medical services to all Lebanese regions.

The clinic provides a package of services including pet medical services, a medical laboratory for various laboratory tests, a place to examine animals, animal cages as well as a small shop.

"I have prepared my mobile veterinary clinic, which is a big vehicle I drive" she told “Sputnik”, "It is the first mobile veterinary clinic in Lebanon to serve critical cases, and those people who do not have time to go to the clinic, and some have the difficulty of transporting animals from home to clinics especially cats and older animals".

Muallem said: "I had this idea while studying at university, for when I was young I had a cat and I found it difficult to take it to the veterinarian because it was wild, I started to put the idea into practice from the day I graduated and I’ve been working on it to make it successful, it took me almost a year for all legal papers, and equipping the vehicle from the inside which took about six months”.

Muallem continued: "I do everything I can to cover all Lebanese areas on scheduled time and according to a timetable, and I provide all services in this mobile clinic, such as screening, medical care, general examinations, blood tests, dental cleaning, small operations and others, while difficult cases I’m collaborating with other clinics deployed in all Lebanese regions to transfer certain animals to them".

She pointed out that the goal of the mobile clinic is to reach pets and their owners, in order to provide the best health services and as soon as possible and within 24 hours.

As for the difficulties encountered, the most important are the traffic jams on the roads and the narrowness of many roads in Lebanon, the difficulty of dividing the areas and the inability to cover all Lebanese areas.
